Machinist Turned Writer

I had the opportunity to spend some time with Steve Hensley, a new editor for Modern Machine Shop. We took in a beer and a Cubs game while we chatted about his new role. He’s still getting used to being off the shop floor and using his hands to communicate instead of manufacturer, but he is going to be an asset for Gardner. He’s been machining for more than 20 years running all sorts of equipment machining centers, lathes, turning centers, laser cutters, boring mills - you name it. He’s also done programming, worked with development engineers and made equipment recommendations. Having a guy like that on the magazine staff should work out well for the readers. He had been at Wasino earlier in the day talking with them about a few new automated turning centers they are rolling out this summer. I’ll be keeping an eye out for his stuff - he seems like a good guy.
